Newtyne is an IT consultancy and learning solutions provider, with a mission to empower people to drive value using data and analytics.

Their vision is to enable leaders to confidently and consistently make sound business decisions. Newtyne has key value areas in place to achieve this, including caring about the community, demonstrating commitments and consistency, collaborating with teams and partners, plus being op open to feedback to grow.

With all of this in mind, Newtyne wanted to prove their commitments across environmental, social and ethical pillars through EcoVadis, an internationally recognised methodology. Newtyne use EcoVadis year-on-year to highlight their positive work and benchmark against themselves to promote annual increases in score.

Our Social Sustainability solutions, including EcoVadis and B Corp offers, are led by our Managing Consultant, Vibhati Bhatia.

What was the challenge or business reason you needed to work with Energise on the project?

Simon: “We are a small-medium sized data consultancy, with the majority of our people all working from home. We engaged Energise to help us with our fourth EcoVadis annual assessment. We have improved our EcoVadis rating year on year and were keen to improve again against the backdrop of EcoVadis making some of the assessment criteria more challenging this year, including a change to the rating system. We felt the time was right to commission expertise to help us not only get a more detailed understanding of the EcoVadis process, but to also kickstart the cultural change journey we need to go on to take our sustainability journey to the next level.”

How did Energise help you with the project, which solutions did you require?

Simon: “Vibhati (Vibs) from Energise was able to add immediate value, helping us quickly understand where we could gain some quick wins. She was able to analyse everything we had in terms of documentary evidence for our policies, targets and processes. Vibs was also able to advise on ways in which we could adapt what we already had to fit better with the EcoVadis assessment portal, framing the answers to questions in ways which were more likely to be acceptable to the EcoVadis assessors. Vibs also gave us some practical tools and tips on how to present certain documentation to ensure it met EcoVadis’ strict criteria, especially around things like dates on documents and making sure they had our logo on – simple things but easy to overlook!

“More than that, Vibs has helped set us on a path to view sustainability, not as a ‘nice to have’, but as an essential and integral part of our strategic thinking and business planning.”

What was the impact of the work completed?

Simon: “We were absolutely delighted with the result.

“We maintained our Silver Rating but with an increase in our overall score from 68/100 in 2023 to 72/100 in 2024. We also jumped up from the 91st Percentile to the 92nd – no mean feat and especially given EcoVadis’ changes to the rating system and more challenging criteria.

“We are on a journey of continuous improvement, and thanks to Vibs and the Energise team, we are much better placed to continue on our sustainability journey as an integral part of our business. We look forward to the challenge of improving our EcoVadis rating still further for 2025 and beyond.”

Having already successfully completed three EcoVadis assessments with impressive scores, we commissioned Energise to help us further improve our rating. We were keen to set ourselves this challenge, even though EcoVadis strengthened the criteria during 2024. Vibhati Bhatia (Vibs) supported us all the way, providing expert analysis and industry insight, which not only helped us improve our score, but increase our knowledge of how we, as a business, can embed and integrate sustainability into our thinking and actions."
