Interagro - The transformative power of LCAs

As the UK leading adjuvant supplier, Interagro partner with all levels of the agricultural industry and provide products and solutions to optimise plant health and performance for farmers.

What Interagro Needed

After working with Energise to analyse and reduce the carbon emissions associated with their product lines, Interagro wanted to fully understand their supply chain, Scope 3 emissions and, ultimately, be in a position where they can produce lifecycle assessments (LCAs) for more complex products.

Our Process of Innovation

Supply chain engagement and access to Energise’s Net Zero Hub (our end-to-end software solution) enabled 38 lifecycle assessments to be carried out during the first two years of our collaboration, prior to Interagro moving on to look at more complex products.

With multiple ingredients from multiple suppliers going into each of Interagro’s products, LCAs were the just the start of the business’s carbon footprinting journey. Whilst the nature of this process is complicated and nuanced, it was simplified by our expert consultants, who used Energise’s LCA Roadmap and Carbon Footprinting model, a reliable framework developed and refined over many years of activity.

Outcomes and Benefits for Interagro

Energise’s lifecycle assessment approach made Interagro’s supply chain impact far more transparent. The company is now in a much better position to capture data, allowing the purchasing department to know where they stand, make coherent decisions, and take any action as needed.

Interagro now have a full understanding of their supply chain, what they need to ask for and a simple way of assessing their Scope 3 data. The detailed data provided by the life cycle assessments, together with the high-level reporting facility provided by Energise’s Net Zero Hub, means that staff on the ground can easily provide the evidence that the Board needs to make high-level informed decisions.

At Interagro we are at the start of our carbon neutral journey. The nature of our products naturally offers farmers more sustainable solutions but working with Energise has given us more clarity in detailing out the carbon footprint for each and every one of our products. From here, with the support, expert knowledge and guidance from Energise we can define a clear strategy with achievable and realistic goals. I have been most impressed with their knowledge and expertise.
