We know that our people are our biggest asset. During lockdown we’ve rallied together and kept Energise moving forward. Someone vital to our team is Laura Dwight, our Data Administrator. So much of our work is driven by data so she is a crucial cog in our Energise wheel. Laura joined us in 2018.
Tell us about your role
As Data Administrator I’m responsible for administering the data collection for our clients, ensuring that the data we collect is entered correctly, accurately and on time. I largely work on the data collection for our Strategic and Retained projects. The data collection for these sizeable portfolios generally includes electricity, gas and water data flows which arrive in a variety of formats.
The data process can be difficult as the collection of data is not always as straightforward as it might seem. Collectively the Data Team work closely with our Consultancy Team as the data that we collect provides the foundation for the outcomes they are delivering for our clients.
What drives you?
Within the Data Team I lead on the day-to-day management of our clients’ data flows. I consider myself to be a problem solver, and this attribute is important as I’m often faced with multifaceted issues that need resolving to ensure the data we collect is clean and accurate - each day I welcome the challenges that my role brings.
What do you enjoy about working for Energise?
Everybody is so passionate about what they do, and about energy saving. It’s great to be able to fit in with people who are so hardworking. It’s nice to feel like you’re at home. I know I have support in my team, as others have done my job before, so they understand my role.
What are your hopes for the future?
I hope to progress and look at management. In the future I would like to develop into a data management role heading up the Data Team as the organisation and our client base continues its growth. I have started to develop within my role a wider understanding of the data we collect in relation to the energy and carbon reporting we offer. I would like to continue expanding my knowledge base to fully understand the impact data has on our clients’ Pathway to Net Zero.
Who inspires you?
My partner inspires me. He has faced some tough experiences in the past few years but remains incredibly positive and always finds the good in a situation. He is my sunshine. He has managed to find a career he loves where his drive and ambition are both recognised. He has passion, confidence and is incredibly hard-working. Teamed with his positive mental attitude, it is great to see him fulfil his goals. I can only hope I can be like him one day.
Tell us three facts about you?
I love cats! My house is covered in cat things and I have two furry felines of my own - they’re called Toby and Elmo.
I’m a fan of drama and acting. I love going to the theatre, and my degree was in drama, actually.
I pick up languages easily. I learnt German at school, took a class in Spanish at university, and also know some Chinese from a part time job I had.
